Dearne Valley link to 29-year-old woman found killed

POLICE are seeking dashcam footage from motorists in the Dearne Valley area after finding the body of a woman who had been missing.

Abi Fisher (29, pictured), from Castleford, had not been seen for two days before her body was found near Brierley on Sunday.

Her family had been “extremely concerned” as it was “completely out of character” for her to leave home without telling her family.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that her body was found in undergrowth off Southmoor Road, near Brierley on Sunday, and said a 29-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

As part of their ongoing enquiries, officers are asking anyone with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle who has driven on the B6273 Southmoor Road between Hemsworth and Great Houghton between 8.15am and 9.15am on Saturday (9 July) to submit their footage to the police.

Det Chief Supt Mark Swift, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries and as part of that are appealing to the public to help us by providing any information that could help our investigation.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage from Southmoor Road on Saturday morning and have set up a specific portal for footage to be submitted to.”
