Rotherham Civic has announced local actor Kevin G Drury will be taking on the lead role of Captain Hook for Darren Day for both performances of The New Adventures of Peter Pan on December 4 – but stressed the West End legend remains a “key part of this year's cast.”

A spokesperson for the theatre said: “We're delighted to announce that talented actor Kevin G Drury will be stepping into the role of Captain Hook on 4 December for Darren Day.

“Darren remains a key part of this year's pantomime cast and will be in every other performance throughout the run of The New Adventures of Peter Pan.

Liz Johnson, performing arts programme manager, said: “We are excited to welcome Kevin to Rotherham Civic Theatre as he steps in to cover Darren Day for one performance.

“Kevin is a fantastic talent, and we’re excited for audiences to see him bring his own magic to the role.

“He will be with us throughout the whole rehearsal period, and we know audiences will give him a warm Rotherham welcome as he takes on the role, bringing all the larger-than-life villainy, comedy, and pirate mischief that Captain Hook is famous for.
