'Game off' decision brings lull in Rotherham United relegation scrap

The Millers, beset by injuries and suspensions, will be glad of the break.

Rotherham United will take a two-week break from their battle against the League Two drop after today postponing their next fourth-tier clash because of international call-ups.

The Millers, who are in FA Cup action this weekend at Bromley, were due to face Crawley Town at AESSEAL New York Stadium a week on Saturday.

However, that clash against their fellow strugglers is now off because they will have at least three of their players on duty with their countries.

That means that Rotherham's next chance to improve on their present 22nd spot won't come until November 21 at play-off-chasing Grimsby Town who are managed by former Millers centre-half David Artell.

The identity of the players receiving call-ups has yet to be made public, but the names will come from the following group: midfielder Brandon Cover and right-back Denzel Hall (both Jamaica), goalkeeper Julian Eyestone (USA Under-21s), midfielder Jayce Fitzgerald (England U-20s) and defender Kieran Ngwenya (Trinidad and Tobago).

The next home game is now more than three weeks away, with Oldham Athletic next up at New York on November 28.

The Crawley contest will be rearranged for a date later in the season.

Rotherham, beset by injuries and suspensions, will be glad of the break as it gives them a chance to step back and take stock after a torrid October and beginning to November.

They haven't won for 10 matches and you have to go back to September 19 and the 1-0 triumph at Northampton Town for the last of their two triumphs this term.
