Team's appeal for help

A FOOTBALL team need wheels to help them take part in a special Old Enemy clash in Scotland for charity.

Hundreds of spectators are expected to turn out for the match between Treeton CC and a team from Forfar on July 25 in aid of Breast Cancer and Stroke.

Trreeton will wear the colours of England and their opponents will don the blue of Scotland for the match at Strathmore Park, home of Forfar West End FC.

But to maximise the amount of money they can raise, the footballers ideally need help with a minibus to take them north of the boarder.

Paul Whitworth, one of the organisers, said: "We have found a sponsor for our England shirts but we need help in trying to arrange transport and raffle prizes to help with the fund-raising effort.

"A local hotel owner in Kirriemuir, just outside Forfar, has already helped us with the cost of the overnight stay."

A former player for Treeton, Paul moved to Scotland five years ago and after hearing about friends' efforts to help the two charities, the idea of an Old Enemy football match was born.

Paul added: "The match is being advertised on social media sites as England v Scotland and a large crowd is expected to attend. It has taken off really well up here, the idea has really caught on. We're expecting bagpipers to welcome the lads onto the field and about 500 to 1,000 spectators are expected."

Anyone who can help is welcome to ring Paul on 07534 900944.
