Skipper salutes gutsy victory

CAPTAIN Johnny Mullins has paid tribute to his Rotherham United team-mates after victory at Plymouth Argyle put them on the verge of promotion to League One.

Kieran Agard scored the only goal of Saturday's game 15 minutes from time to leave the Millers in a strong position to finish in the top three.

Victory in this weekend's finale against Aldershot Town at the New York Stadium will guarantee promotion and even a point will be enough unless Cheltenham manage to beat Bradford City by seven clear goals.

Mullins said: "It was a really gutsy performance. Plymouth put us under a bit of pressure at times and we know how difficult a place it is to go but we defended resolutely and it was brilliant for Kieran to pop up with a goal just to take the pressure off.

"It was really great to come up with the win and the clean sheet and we know what's required of us now."

Manager Steve Evans saluted "another hard-fought win," the team's fourth on the spin in the league and their second on the road in a week after last Tuesday's derby triumph at Bradford City.

A further 1,647 tickets have been released for Saturday and going into the weekend there were less than 1,700 remaining, although more might be released depending upon demand from Aldershot.

Tickets can be booked through www.rotherhamunitedshop.co.uk or in person at the Red and White Shop at the New York Stadium.
