Millers undone by Daggers

TEN-MAN Rotherham United fell to a shock 2-1 defeat to Dagenham and Redbridge at the New York Stadium this afternoon.

The visitors took advantage of the sending off of Kari Arnason just before the hour mark to inflict a first defeat in seven games on Steve Evans’ promotion chasers.

Arnason was red-carded for a foul on Medy Elito, who picked himself up to smash in the resulting penalty and give Dagenham a lead they didn’t deserve on the balance of play.

Rotherham refused to buckle and equalised seven minutes later when Claude Davis headed in David Noble’s corner kick.

They still looked dangerous while a man short but were undone eight minutes from time by Luke  Wilkinson’s crisp, close-range finish.

Ben Pringle hit the bar as the Millers searched in vain for a second equaliser.
