Millers net first away win

MANAGER Steve Evans returned to the touchline to see Rotherham United bag their first away win of the season this afternoon.

Goals by debutant Lee Frecklington, left-back Bob Harris and striker Alex Revell sealed a deserved 3-0 win against struggling Aldershot Town at the Recreation Ground, sentencing them to a club record sixth straight league defeat.

Evans, back from his six-match stadium ban, made six changes to the team beaten by Southend in the previous game and was rewarded with a dominant display.

Just a day after signing on a one-month loan deal from Peterborough United, Frecklington opened the scoring on 33 minutes with a 20-yard shot high into the top corner.

Kari Arnason and Daniel Nardiello forced goalline clearances and home goalkeeper Jamie Young kept his team in it with some sharp saves before Harris curled in a sweet free-kick to double the advantage ten minutes into the second half. It was his first goal for the club since his loan switch from Blackpool.

Andy Warrington, deputising in goal for the injured Scott Shearer, had little to do as the Millers went on to put gloss on the win with a third goal eight minutes from the end. Young could only block Lionel Ainsworth’s shot and Revell was on hand to tuck away the rebound.
