DETERMINED Rotherham Metro begin their quest for a second British title tomorrow—and aim to put the heartbreak of last year behind them.

They compete in the preliminary round at Manchester’s aquatic centre with the target of finishing in the top two of their four-team group. That will take them into the trophy shootout at the same venue in two weeks’ time.

Metro won the crown two seasons ago when they beat Manchester 12-8 but suffered a dramatic 8-7 defeat against arch rivals Lancaster 12 months ago, with the winner coming just seven seconds from time.

They head across the Pennines to face Welsh Wanderers tomorrow before taking on Kent Invicta on Sunday morning and then host club—and their most dangerous opponents—Manchester in the afternoon.

National League winners Lancaster, Bristol, Portobello and Cheltenham fight it out in the other group.
