The Millers won every match last month except their Boxing Day trip to Accrington Stanley which saw the end of their 21-game unbeaten run.

Barlaser's citation reads: "Much of Rotherham’s success this season has been orchestrated by his quarterback play, spinning searching passes to teammates. The technician added goals in December, four of them expertly finished in as many games."

He faces competition from Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray, Sunderland midfielder Alex Pritchard and Oxford United striker Matty Taylor.

Warne's commendation says; "It is one thing to gain momentum, quite another to maintain it, but that is what Rotherham have done under his astute leadership. His confident, well-drilled side collected three wins from four games to stay in the top two."

His rivals are John Coleman (Accrington Stanley), Lee Johnson (Sunderland) and Leam Richardson (Wigan Athletic).

The judging panel for the players is Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman; EFL communications cirector Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

Former Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley boss Danny Wilson joins that trio to decide on the managerial award.

The winners will be announced on Friday morning.
