Fitness record plays a part in Aaron Nemane’s move to Rotherham United

ROTHERHAM United are pushing on with their recruitment drive after landing a player who ticks two significant boxes in their mission to bounce back from relegation.

New Millers bosses Steve McClaren and Alex Bruce have both targeted a quickfire escape from League Two and this week they added Aaron Nemane to their squad.

The right winger won promotion from the division last term, so knows what it takes to get out of the fourth tier, and he arrives with an impressive fitness record.

That is hugely important to Rotherham as they seek to bring in “robust” players and put an end to the injury problems that blighted their 2025/26 campaign.

“In the last three seasons, I think I've missed one game through suspension and one game through injury,” said the 28-year-old Frenchman. “Any other games I missed, I was just on the bench and didn't get put on. Basically I've been available quite a lot for the past three years. Hopefully that can continue here.

“I just always want to play. I hate being in the physio room, I just want to be out on the pitch training and playing.”

Nemane, who went up with MK Dons before being released in May, became the second summer signing as he followed forward Fabio Tavares through the door at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The Millers, low on numbers following a summer of player exits, are in talks with a clutch of other targets and are closing in on further signings.

The former Manchester City youngster played 42 times last season for MK, adding to his 42 outings in his first year at stadium after a three-year stint at Notts County with whom he won promotion from the National League back into the EFL.

Rotherham made their move for him last week and the free agent passed a medical on Tuesday.

“I just felt like it was a good fit for me to come here,” he said.

Talks with head of football McClaren and head coach Bruce went well and Nemane, who also played for Torquay United earlier in his career, has signed a two-year deal.

His first taste of action with his new club should come in Friday evening's friendly at Roundwood against non-league Parkgate as the Millers kick off their pre-season programme.
