Evans delighted with response

MANAGER Steve Evans saluted the character of his Rotherham United side after they bounced back to form at the New York Stadium at the weekend.

The Millers recovered from a first-minute goal to fight back to beat Cheltenham Town 4-2, with Daniel Nardiello's braced backed up by strikes from Ben Pringle and Lee Frecklington.

The victory, following a 5-0 hammering at Dagenham, lifted the Millers one place to eighth in League Two ahead of tomorrow night's home date against bottom side Wycombe Wanderers and Evans said it was warranted.

"We showed a lot of character," he said. "We played well and it is just a shame it took us so long to get the fourth goal because we deserved to win more comfortably, but we have a habit of making things difficult for ourselves.

"The win was for the supporters and especially for those who travelled to Dagenham."

Having lost centre-half Craig Morgan to injury in the first half, the Millers are now looking at ways of filling the gap, either by making a loan signing or by recalling Johnny Mullins from his loan spell at Oxford United.

"We're working on various options," added Evans.
