Whiston Parish Church CC to stage 'prestige' disability cricket match
A FORWARD-THINKING cricket club has been chosen to stage a county disability match this summer.
The game between Yorkshire Disability Cricket S9s and North Wales will be held at Whiston Parish Church CC on Sunday, June 28.

It will be played over 30 overs and be played on a full length, prepared-grass pitch. The rules will be the same as mainstream cricket.
"To be offered the opportunity to host such a prestige fixture is a great honour for the club,” said a Whiston spokesperson.

"We already have the status of a Disability Champion Club and are actively involved in the promotion of all forms of Disability Cricket, including table cricket.
“We have been able to welcome and host children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and hosted various events for local SEND schools.”
Yorkshire were ECB North champions in 2024 and have since given lots more new players the chance to take up the game.
"Most of the Super 9's team wouldn't get to play the game without the push for disability cricket from the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) and YCF (Yorkshire Cricket Foundation),” added the spokesperson.
“The format is about the players creating their own moments, participation and enjoyment.
“We are delighted to support the ECB and YCF in their development of disability cricket.”
