Agard nets late clincher

KIERAN Agard struck in stoppage time to earn Rotherham United a 2-1 win at Carlisle and keep their League One promotion push firmly on track.

Wes Thomas’s third goal in as many games put the Millers in front. Lee Miller’s equaliser looked like earning the home side a share of the spoils before Agard swooped to settle it.

The first goal came on 24 minutes when a collision between goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and two team-mates saw the loose ball drop for Thomas to slot a simple chance.

Having made all the running with the wind behind them, Rotherham were pegged back against the run of play in first-half injury time when Miller scored with an overhead kick.

The second half was more even, with Agard forcing a good save from Pickford and Carlisle restricted to shots from distance. But a minute into time added on, Rotherham conjured a late winner for the third successive game when Alex Revell whipped in a super low cross and Agard stole in to score.
