Two OAPs in critical condition after collision with suspected drink driver

TWO OAPS suffered life-threatening injuries after being involved in a crash with a suspected drink and drug-driver.

The 86-year-old and 88-year-old travelling in a silver Kia Sportage along St John’s Road in Laughton en le Morthen at 6.40pm on Monday when the accident happened.

Police said a black Nissan Juke had been travelling in the opposite direction and hit the Kia Sportage.

The injured people from the Kia were taken to hospital, where their condition was described last night as “critical”.

The driver of the Nissan also suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital today.

 

Police said they had arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit of drugs and alcohol in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson said: “An investigation is currently underway and we are asking motorists to provide any dashcam footage they may have of the incident to help with enquiries.”
