WHAT'S ON: Brinsworth & Canklow

BRINSWORTH ACADEMY: Sixth former Georgia Stockwell has been rewarded for her first aid heroics with a visit to Buckingham Palace where she met the patron of the St John Ambulance charity, Princess Anne. The Whiston teenager put her skills to the test when she helped three people at the scene of a road traffic accident. The Performing Arts department has staged a production of the musical Loserville this week.

BRINSWORTH MANOR JUNIOR SCHOOL: An enterprise event held before the Christmas holidays raised £1,331.60. A working party is now being formed to decide how to use the money. Reading volunteers are needed to come into school and help pupils advance their reading skills. Training will be provided. New members of staff include Mrs France in the office and Mrs Ousley who joins as the school’s business manager. A parents’ information talk about safety on the internet is being held on February 2 5.30-6.30pm.
