Titans: we'll hit back

TITANS pack man Barney Maddison says Rotherham Titans will up their game in readiness for next week's next meaty Championship challenge.

After yesderday's sterile 20-11 defeat against Yorkshire Carnegie at Headingley, Titans now prepare for next weekend's clash at Cornish Pirates as the hard games come thick and fast.

Yesterday's defeat showed that Mark Jones' side still have several Achilles heels as they conceded two tries to rolling mauls and had a hard afternoon against a strong Carnegie side.

Titans had started well and went 6-3 ahead thanks to two Tom Barrett penalties but when Chris Walker touched down from the first catch and drive to the whitewash, Leeds assumed a lead they never relinquished.

A second try, this time from prop Charlie Beech sealed it 12 minutes from time with a late George Oram score coming too late.

Maddison reckons Rotherham have the capacity to hit back.

"It's always disappointing to lose but there were good points in our game and we'll work hard in the week and try to come good against Pirates," he said.
