The Steelmen made it nine games unbeaten in their final home game of the season on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Hall Road Rangers, who ended the match with just nine players on the pitch.

However, the victory sealed the runners-up position for Shelley’s men- a feat that looked highly unlikely at the beginning of the season.

Gate cannot match other clubs in terms of resources or finance in the division, but Shelley has built a young pacy squad and helped them to believe again.

He said “It’s a great achievement for this club and a cup win would really top it off, looking at our resources and squad I think we have achieved at least ten times more than any other team in the division this season."
