Sam Nombe on verge of exit ... and that's good news for Rotherham United's recruitment drive
THE sale of Sam Nombe could lead to a burst of signings for Rotherham United as the clock ticks down towards the start of the new season.
The Millers have managed to bring in only four players so far this summer and they need more bodies, with the 2026/27 League Two campaign now only three weeks away.

Their top scorer of the past two years is on the brink of leaving and Alex Bruce is hoping the proceeds will help fund a flurry of activity as he seeks to bring in fresh blood.
More than one team have made offers but League One MK Dons are firm favourites to land the 27-year-old striker who became Rotherham's record signing – at more than £1 million – when he joined them from Exeter City during the managerial reign of Matt Taylor in 2023.
“Bids are in and I can tell you it's getting very close,” said Bruce. “It involves a couple of clubs.”
Nombe has been left out of all four of the Millers' pre-season games to protect him from injury. Negotiations have dragged on and a resolution will suit the club and the player.
When asked if the delay has held up his own recruitment, Bruce said: “Yeah, a little bit. We have to wait for a bid to be right.
“I need numbers. I think everybody knows that - and I certainly know myself! I've said it's about picking the right personnel. It's to do with what I have and haven't got. I don't want to dive into things and exhaust finances if they're not there. So, it's important that I pick the right ones.”
