Former Rotherham Town captain among defendants accused of racism in Yorkshire County Cricket Club hearing

FORMER Rotherham Town captain John Blain is one of the defendants involved in the hearing into allegations of institutional racism at Yorkshire County Cricket Club brought to light by Azeem Rafiq.

Blain was accused of having using racial slurs against Asian individuals, including Rafiq, during pre-season training at Headingley in 2010 and, non-specifically, on other occasions while at Yorkshire in 2010-11.

Blain denied the incidents in his initial response to the ECB and has withdrawn from the process along with other defendants. Michael Vaughan, the former England captain, is the only one of the accused to give evidence.

A decision from the Cricket Discipline Committee is expected this month.
