Warning of delays during bridge works

Canklow Bridge will be closed for two weeks from Saturday (13) between Canklow roundabout and Whitehill Lane.

Diversions will be in place via Centenary Way, Sheffield Road and Bawtry Road.

Paul Woodcock, Rotherham Borough Council’s assistant director of transportation, apologised for any inconvenience.

He added: “This is an important piece of work to carry out essential maintenance where the road bridge crosses the River Rother.

“We will also be installing a crossing point and refuge to make crossing the road safer for local people.

“We have scheduled the work to take place during the school holiday period to minimise disruption as much as possible for people.”

Pedestrians will still be able to cross the bridge and access to businesses will be maintained, the council said.
