The road was closed for around three hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Maltby Town Council chairman Jon Carratt said the woman was part owner of popular Maltby Chinese takeaway, Jumbo, which he believed had been in the village for around five years.

Cllr Carratt said: “It’s always tragic when somebody dies under these circumstances.

“All our sympathies are with the family, she was a very nice woman.”

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said the incident was being treated as accidental and was not being investigated.

An inquest into the woman’s death is due to opened next week.
