Tea towel left on hob set kitchen alight

A TEA TOWEL left on the hob led to fire crews being called out to a Wingfield flat.

Firefighters from Dearne and Tankersley were called to Robinets Road, Wingfield, at 7.11pm.

On arrival they found the kitchen in a ground floor flat well alight. The fire, which is thought to have started when a tea towel was left on a hob, was dealt with by 7.51.

Nobody was injured in the fire and quick action from crews ensured the fire and smoke damage was limited.
