Parking restrictions on busy road to be legally formalised after council discovers error
A yellow line to stop school run parking has never been enforceable because it was painted without the required legal order. That is now set to change.
A single yellow line restricting parking and waiting during specific hours is set to become legally enforceable.

Rotherham Council is preparing to introduce a Traffic Regulation Order for the existing restriction on Festival Road, Wath upon Dearne, which prohibits waiting between 7.30am and 5pm from Monday to Friday.
Council officers said the road marking had been installed "in error" without the legal order required to enforce it.
A report said the restriction had therefore been 'unenforceable,' despite being in place for some time.
The new order is intended to formalise the existing yellow line, allowing enforcement at school drop-off and pick-up times, when stopping and waiting is at its peak.
Council officers said the restriction would also help prevent obstruction at a known pinch point while improving safety for pedestrians using the route to school.
Residents living near the affected section of Festival Road were consulted earlier this year, but no objections were received. South Yorkshire Police and Wath ward councillors also raised no concerns.
The scheme forms part of the council's small interventions programme and is expected to cost £9,000, funded through the transport capital programme.
Because the road markings are already in place, no significant construction work will be needed once the order is made.
