Andrew Boyce (19) was fined when he was spotted by a warden outside McDonalds in Dalton in March.

Boyce, of Old Mill Road, Conisbrough, failed to pay up after the March 1 incident and Rotherham Borough Council prosecuted.

He was found guilty of littering at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court in his absence last Friday (1), when he was fined £175. Boyce must also pay £159 costs plus an extra £15.

Cllr Jahangir Akhtar, the council’s Cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “This is a continuation of our zero-tolerance approach.

“We want our actions on these priorities to have a real effect and improving the quality of life is a priority.

“Taking pride in our neighbourhoods and keeping them free from litter, dog fouling, graffiti and fly-tipping is a particular issue.

A Streetpride survey saw fly-tipping top a list of crimes Rotherham folk want to see prosecuted.
