The Parcelforce depot gained 1.9 stars from 786 Google reviews, according to the new research.

CJS Automation read the depot's newest 100 Google reviews, posted between November 2025 and October 2026.

Of the the 82 with a written comment: 28 (34 per cent) complained about failed deliveries, from being told a delivery had been attempted to finding a parcel left in the wrong place; 15 (18 per cent) complained about customer service or not being able to get through to anyone, and 14 (17 per cent) said a parcel had gone missing or got stuck.

Johnathan Craddock, director at CJS Automation, said: “Every parcel that comes through a depot gets scanned and sorted by machine, usually more than once before it reaches a van.

“When a line goes down or gets more than it can handle, the parcels pile up and wait, and the tracking often won’t change until they’re moving again.

“To the person waiting at home that can look like a lost parcel, and it’s a big part of what these reviews are about.”

Responding to the survey results, a Parcelforce spokesperson said: “We successfully deliver millions of parcels every year and remain focused on providing customers with a reliable and consistent service.

“We take customer feedback seriously and closely monitor delivery performance across our network, including in Rotherham.

“Where issues arise, our teams work to address them and improve the service customers receive.”

The second-worst-rated depot in Yorkshire is DPD’s Leeds depot at Howley Park in Morley, whose Google listing has 2.0 stars from 1,125 reviews.

CJS Automation rated 24 depots in Yorkshire and the Humber, and the best-rated was DHL Express's Sheffield service centre at Shortwood Business Park in Hoyland, near Barnsley, with 3.8 stars from 142 reviews.

Across the UK, CJS Automation rated 419 parcel depots, and DPD runs six of the 10 worst-rated, with former Yodel depots now run by InPost making up the other four.
