Consultation on new vision for Millmoor opens with people urged to have their say
"The club believes the best future for Millmoor will be shaped by the people who know it best”
The Millmoor Reborn consultation is now live, and players, supporters and the wider community are being urged to have their say on the next chapter for the historic ground.
Now, the Millmoor Reborn project is asking the people who love it most what the ground could become.
The consultation has now opened and feedback will be accepted for the next fortnight, closing on Monday, November 9, 2026.
Millmoor opened in 1907 and was home to Rotherham United for just over 100 years, until the club left in 2008.
Generations of Rotherham families stood on its terraces, and the ground's record crowd of more than 25,000 shows just how big a part it once played in town life.
Since the professional game moved on, Millmoor has sat largely quiet.
Yet for many in Rotherham it has never stopped mattering. It holds memories of first matches, big cup nights and Saturdays spent with family and friends, and it remains a landmark at the edge of the town centre.
A spokesperson said Millmoor Reborn is "about giving the ground a new purpose for a new generation."
They added: "The consultation invites ideas on how Millmoor could once again become a place where the community comes together, whether through matchdays, grassroots and youth football, community events or facilities open to local people all week long.
"For Rotherham United Women's FC, the opportunity is especially exciting.
"The women's game is growing faster than ever, and a revitalised Millmoor could offer a home that reflects that ambition: somewhere for our players to perform, for young girls to see a clear pathway into the sport, and for supporters to build matchday traditions of their own.
"The club believes the best future for Millmoor will be shaped by the people who know it best. That is why every voice matters, from lifelong fans with stories of the old terraces to families who have never set foot inside the ground."
The consultation is open now and closes on Monday, November 9, 2026. To take part, visit https://www.ruwfc.com/millmoor-consultation
