Murder accused remanded in custody

THE Rotherham man accused of the murder of a guesthouse landlady which sparked a huge police manhunt has appeared at crown court.

John Heald (53) is charged with killing 49-year-old Bei Carter, whose body was found at the Morayland Guest House in Bridlington.

He is also charged with 10 counts of rape in South Yorkshire which are alleged to have taken place on July 13.

Heald, of Foljambe Road, appeared at Hull Crown Court on Friday August 1, where he was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on October 31.

Heald was arrested in Parkgate after a five-day manhunt after Mrs Carter was found dead on July 18.
