Motorists face disruption during £14m A57 roadworks

MOTORISTS are being warned of a temporary road closure in Rotherham as part of the A57 improvements works.

Kiveton Lane will be closed for two weeks from next Monday, at its junction with the A57 at Todwick crossroads to allow for both highway and utility works.

Signs will be in place advising that motorists travelling to Todwick and beyond to take the earlier turn to Todwick from the A57 along Goose Carr Lane.

The road closure is part of a £14.7 million improvement scheme by Rotherham Borough Council that will see the A57 turned into a dual carriageway from the Todwick crossroads to Junction 31 of the M1 motorway.

Ringway Infrastructure Services began work in September and the ecology surveys, archaeology digs and site clearance are all now complete.

Earth and drainage works are also well underway and progressing according to the programme for the scheme, which is due to be completed in early 2014.
