Kenyan adventure for Rotherham soldier: LISTEN

A ROTHERHAM soldier has been talking about his experiences while on a training exercise in Africa.

Sgt Zac Williamson spoke to army radio station Garrison FM while with 204 Signal Squadron at the British Army Training Unit in Kenya.

Highlights of his trip included driving the commanding officer over harsh terrain and a three-day trip up Mount Kenya.

BATUK plays a major role in training the British Army and is used by more than 6,000 soliders each year, as well as being home to around 500 who oversee the training programmes.

It’s aim is to train Battle Groups in an environment similar to Afghanistan and Iraq.
