Free places offer on asbestos training scheme

SAFETY specialist firm Boss Training is celebrating the relaunch of its national asbestos awareness training service by offering free places to clients.

Asbestos is the biggest cause of UK work-related deaths, according to the Health and Safety Executive.

Boss is holding half-day UKATA-registered awareness courses in Leeds, which can be tailored to the needs of companies.

Managing director Andrew Murphy said: “Because the use of brown and blue asbestos was only banned in 1985, and white asbestos as late as 1999, there are still many buildings which were built prior to those dates where asbestos can be found.

“Exposure is therefore still a real risk when workers disturb the fabric of buildings.

"The course includes written and oral presentations, and focuses on providing clients with information about the properties and types of asbestos and how to avoid exposure risks.

Companies and individuals interested in attending the asbestos course and taking advantage of the special offer can contact Boss on 0845 680 0495.
