Ex Rotherham Harrier Kim survives Boston marathon blast horror

A ROTHERHAM runner who completed the Boston Marathon just minutes before yesterday’s bomb blast is safe and well.

Kim Scott, a former Rotherham Harrier who now lives in Chicago was near the finish line in downtown Boston when two explosions rocked the Massachussets city.

Family friend Mal Carratt told the Advertiser she had been in touch with Kim and mum Pat Rowbotham and had been relieved to hear the pair were safe.

 “You fear the worst when things like this happen, but thankfully they are OK,” Mel said.

Officials said three people, including an eight-year-old boy, had died, and 140 were injured, including 17 who were critically hurt.
