Man charged with possession of explosive substance after Wingfield police raid

A MAN has been has been charged with possession of an explosive substance following a bomb disposal team being called to Wingfield.

Police executed a warrant on Friday morning and evacuated about a dozen houses.

During the warrant officers seized believed to be explosive devices.

Brett Ainley (41), of Treefield Close, was remanded in custody after being arrested and will go before magistrates in Sheffield today.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We understand this incident may have caused concerns within the local community and officers will remain in the area over the next couple of days.”
