Bus delays likely as Olympic torch passes through Rotherham

STAGECOACH is warning of disruption to bus services when the Olympic Torch Relay arrives in Rotherham next week.

The company says services 21, 25, 29 and 99 Worksop, Harworth and Bawtry to Doncaster will operate a diversionary route via Carr House Road, Trafford Way direct to Frenchgate Interchange on both inbound and outbound journeys, between 6am and noon.

Delays and temporary service suspensions may occur on services 19, 19A, 19B Worksop and Dinnington to Rotherham between 8.30am and 9.30am. Passengers are advised to wait at Rotherham Interchange.

The 22 service from Worksop and Tickhill to Doncaster will terminate at Woodfield Plantation, Balby, at 10.50am and the 11.05am from Doncaster to Worksop will not operate between Doncaster and Balby.

A spokesman added: "Services may run later than planned or be suspended if additional road closures are put in place.

"We will do everything we can to keep the disruption to a minimum. Please be patient if delays do occur."

South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive said it expected the following effects on Rotherham services on Tuesday.

Rotherham Centre

Short term disruption from Westgate to Corporation Street from 0850 to 0900 and Wellgate to Clifton Park from 0900 to 0905.

Clifton and East Dene

Certain journeys on the 11, 15, 37, 56 and 57 may need to divert between 0900 and 0930.

Dalton and Thrybergh

Delays to service 4, 37 and X78 between 0925 and 0940.
