Professor Brian Cox - Emergence review
On Thursday October 15, I had the pleasure of attending Professor Brian Cox’s latest 2026 tour ‘Emergence’ at the Sheffield Utilita.

Professor Brian Cox took his audience on an astounding 2hr journey immersive experience - exploring Plank theory to discussing theories of the multiverse and back.
From start to finish, the evening was a unique extra-ordinary immersive experience. The accompanying visuals on the large LED screens displayed breath-taking imagery of blackholes, pulsars, quasars to moons, planets and other galaxies. The striking imagery was accompanied by atmospheric music ‘Voyager’ from musical artist PJ Harvey. along Professor Brian Cox’s amazing 2hr commentary. Cox had a wonderful ability to make complex scientific ideas feel fascinating and accessible to all. His commentary alongside tens of images allowed the audience, to ponder the extraordinary world we live in.

Throughout the evening there was multiple ooo’s and aah’s in sheer wonderment and excitement we were invited to step outside of the solar system and gaze upon a new and extraordinary images - that we perhaps never thought we would ever see! This shared experience with 5,000 other attendees was a wonderful and captivating.
The combination of science, storytelling, stunning visuals and music made this far more than a lecture/seminar; it was a full-scale sensory experience.
To top the evening off, Professor Brian Cox even brought out his Keytar - a nod to his earlier days as a rockstar in legendary indie band D-Ream. This was celebrated by all.
The production was outstanding and the atmosphere was truly electric. Genuinely awe inspiring for any astronomical enthusiast. A fantastic evening.
