Occupant rescued from fire after cooking related accident

FIREFIGHTERS saved a resident from a burning building over the weekend after a cooking-related accident.

Crews were called to Winterwell Road, West Melton, at 2.05am on Saturday (February 18) after receiving reports of a fire within the property.

They said the fire had been started accidentally due to cooking.

The crew left the scene at 3.20am. 

Fire crews also intervened when a deliberate motorbike blaze was reported at 7.55pm on Friday on Neville Close, Wombwell.

The crew left the scene 25 minutes later.

A wheelie bin was also set alight at 6.20am today (February 20) on King Street, Hoyland, and another bin was reported as on fire at 7.30am in Stonegate Mews, Balby.
