Ruth Booth-Rodgers - Email [email protected]

CLLR MICHAEL BENNETT-SYLVESTER: Michael attended a seminar on highways, at which he asked questions around parking services, the problem of cars being dumped in Dalton, how footpath replacements are prioritised, and around the targeting of areas where CCTV is needed in order to tackle the problems of anti-social behaviour, crime, and fly-tipping. At the last Improving Places Select Committee, Michael asked questions about the council's playing fields strategy, particularly around community access after this was lost to the gym facilities at Thrybergh sports hall, plus the proposed scheme in the Local Neighbourhood Road Safety Programme for Doncaster Road in Thrybergh. As well as attending meetings, including the quarterly online meeting of the Transportation Advisory Board, Michael has been out in the community, supporting the Autumn Fair held by Lime Tree Nursery, supporting the students at Thrybergh Academy on their sponsored walk to raise money for Thornberry Animal Sanctuary and SANDS, attending the launch of the Rotherham 2026 Poppy Appeal, and holding his surgeries, including the one at Thrybergh Parish Hall where the plans for the war memorial are on display.

IMPROVEMENT WORKS: Work has started around the war memorial in Thrybergh as part of a collaboration between Rotherham Council and Thrybergh Parish Council to upgrade the area, including a steam clean of the memorial. Further works will include the replacement of the concrete posts with kneeler rails to protect the grass from bikes and scooters, plus low level planting and new benches. The original path to the memorial is being replaced with a resin surface.

THRYBERGH PARISH COUNCIL: Next meeting is on Thursday November 12 6.30pm at Thrybergh Parish Hall on Park Lane. Members of the public can attend. The council will be holding a Remembrance Service on Sunday November 8 10am at the parish hall. Residents are asked to consider becoming a parish councillor - email [email protected].
