CAMRA accolade for Wetherspoons' Bluecoat

THE Bluecoat in the town centre has been named Pub of the Year by the Rotherham branch of the Campaign for Real Ale.

Pub manager Gary Carr was presented with the award by Rotherham CAMRA chairman Steve Burns at a presentation last Tuesday.

He said: “We are always on the look-out for new brewers and beers and championing our local breweries.

“We are delighted that CAMRA have recognised our efforts with this award.”

The Wetherspoons-operated Bluecoat serves 10 beers, including eight guest beers. It last won the Pub of the Year award two years ago.

The Bluecoat, in The Crofts, Rotherham, is in a former charity school building, which used to be know as the Blue Coat School after the colour of the children's school uniforms.
