Bouncing and Shaking with John Godber

A THEATRE group is out to take audiences back to the 80s with a new two-part production based around nightlife.

Hum Drum Amateur Dramatics are reviving Hull Truck Theatre Company’s plays Bouncers, written by John Godber, and Shakers, which Godber co-wrote with Jane Thornton.

Split into two parts, the show focuses before the interval on the four bouncers stationed outside a northern nightclub called Mr Cinders and, after the break, turns the spotlight on four long-suffering waitresses at an oh-so-trendy cocktail bar.

Written in the early 1980s, the plays have all the hallmarks of the era but still have something to say about relationships of any age.

Hum Drum are staging the double bill show at the Wesley Centre in Maltby on November 19 and 20.
