Rotherham Titans to kick off centenary season against league newcomers

They'll take on Billingham at Clifton Lane on Saturday, September 2, the Stockton-on-Tees based outfit having been promoted from Regional North East One.

It will be the first competitive meeting between the clubs.

The first away game takes the Titans up to Wharfedale a week later while the other new team in the 14-club section, Lymm, visit Clifton Lane seven days later.

Head coach Gary Pearce's previous club, Hull, have dropped back down into N2N from National One along with old rivals Leeds Tykes.

Rotherham play both, back to back, in November while the "Christmas" fixture is the return with Wharfedale on December 16.

That is one of many Yorkshire derbies which also include tussles with Huddersfield, Hull Ionians and the two Sheffield teams.

Rotherham recovered from a poor run of winter form to finish fourth last year and they are again aiming for the one and only promotion place to National One ahead of a proposed restructure of the leagues.

One of their main rivals will by Fylde, who finished second to champions Sedgley Park last term.

They come to Clifton Lane in October, with the return at Woodlands in February.

The season finishes with a trip up to Billingham on April 27.

There are nine blank weekends built into the calendar.
