Millers ready to finalise short list

ROTHERHAM United say they’ll be in a position to name their new manager early next week — and will tomorrow begin the process of whittling down their final short list.

Chairman Tony Stewart spoke to the Advertiser this morning, saying he’s delighted with the calibre of the names.

The initial 40 men were last night whittled down to four, two of whom are currently in jobs elsewhere. Rotherham will approach the respective clubs for permission to talk to their targets before finalising the interview process.

Several candidates are believed to be on the club’s wanted list, including Hibs boss Alan Stubbs and Coventry’s Tony Mowbray. Both are currently top of the bookies’ roster, with Stubbs currently odds-on.

Others in the frame are former England manager Steve McClaren, ex-Miller Gary Bowyer, Owen Coyle and Stuart Gray.

You’ll find all the latest news in tomorrow’s Advertiser.
