Millers manager Matt Taylor gives an update to the Advertiser.

ROTHERHAM United are still waiting for striker Billy Sharp to decide on whether he's moving to AESSEAL New York Stadium and have hinted they'll look elsewhere if the saga drags on for much longer.

The Millers have chased the veteran centre-forward's signature all summer and say they have put their "best" offer to him in a bid to land his services.

They were expecting a verdict one way or the other this week but that hasn't materialised.

With the start of their Championship campaign now less than a fortnight away, the club's need for reinforcements up front is becoming ever more pressing following the departures of Chiedozie Ogbene and Conor Washington.

Rotherham are giving a trial to former Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday centre-forward Andre Green, who has spent the last two seasons playing for Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava.

The 24-year-old played well and scored in yesterday's 4-2 friendly triumph at Mansfield Town and will be given another chance to impress in Tuesday's home clash with Sheffield United.

When asked by the Advertiser about the Sharp situation Millers manager Matt Taylor said: "It's not our decision. We've done as much as we possibly and now it's down to parties elsewhere. As the season gets closer and closer, more training and game-time gets missed.

"We don't have ten contracts to give out to ten different centre-forwards. It's about who's in front of you, who's progressing well and who's willing to put himself out there for us.

"Andre is currently doing it on a trial basis. We know what he's sacrificed abroad to come back to the UK. Every day that goes by, other people's cases might strengthen and other people's might weaken."

The Millers also have other frontmen on their wanted list.

Sheffield-based Sharp, aged 37 and the second tier's all-time leading scorer, is a free agent after parting company with the Blades following their promotion to the Premier League last term.

He says he has a number of suitors in different divisions and wants to remain at Championship level.
