Rotherham United prepared to switch attention to centre-forward target number two

ROTHERHAM United are ready to walk away from their pursuit of the striker who has spent more than a week considering a loan move to AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The promoted Millers, who kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Swansea City on Saturday, would love the centre-forward to agree a season-long deal and join their Championship squad.

But they are keen on a second target and are prepared to make a move for him instead rather than continue to play a waiting game.

The first player said he would make a decision last Sunday before asked for more thinking time and Warne accepts he will have been talking to other clubs.

"It was going to be Thursday then it was this weekend," said the boss after watching Chiedozie Ogbene's first-half header get the Millers up and running in the second tier.

"I think if I get bad noises again Monday or Tuesday I have to accept the fact that I need to push another one."

Both players have Championship experience and Warne, who is without the early-season services of attackers Tom Eaves and Josh Kayode through injury, is banking on landing one of them.

"f I don't get either, there aren't any other targets, for the money we can afford, who I see making us any better," he said.
