The young attacker has been sidelined by another hamstring problem and he isn't expected to be available for selection until some stage in November.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers player has been blighted by issues since moving to AESSEAL New York Stadium in the summer of 2025 and has been restricted to just 26 appearances.

Kaleta pulled out of last weekend's home clash with Gillingham only hours before kick-off and subsequent tests have delivered bad news.

"I feel for the lad because it's like he takes one step forward and three steps back," said boss Alex Bruce who inherited the player when he took the hot-seat in June. "After doing my research on him at Rotherham, I know that's been the story of his time here.

"It's a shame, because he gives us something a bit different. He was down to play last Saturday. He came to see me on the morning of the game having trained on Thursday and Friday. He said he could feel his hamstring a little bit.

"He's had scans and it looks like he's going to be out for three to four weeks. It's an unfortunate one for him."

Kaleta, who played 22 times last term, was unavailable in the early stages of the this campaign because of a hamstring complaint and didn't have his first outing until the September 22 Jersey Mike's Trophy tie at York City.

The 22-year-old managed three further outings before misfortune struck again.

He is highly rated by Bruce and his absence is a blow as Rotherham seek to climb the League Two table.

When asked for his view on the reasons for the wide man's continuing troubles, the head coach said: "It's very, very difficult to put it on individuals.

"I'll always ask the question, what are we doing? What are we doing in the gym? What are we doing on the grass? What are we doing in warm-ups? What are the players doing in the dark. I think it is a big thing with a player - how are they sleeping, what are they eating at home, are they getting rest and recuperation, are they doing everything they can?

"When you're dealing with young players, you can't stress to them enough how important it is to give yourself every possible opportunity to perform and to be available to play on a Saturday. It's a short career being a footballer. If you're playing at it and you're not doing everything you can to live right, you get found out."

Kaleta says he had few injuries until coming to Rotherham and described last season as "an anomaly".

He shed weight this summer after concerns that his thick-set frame may have contributed to his predicament.

"We have tried to take a few pounds off him, which he has done," said Bruce. "He just keeps picking up these little niggles."
