The initiative follows a busy year in which the club has gone from strength to strength.

Former Miller Len said: “We are trying to get as many kids in the community as active as possible and enjoying the benefits of sport.

“In our academy we cater for children as young as four up to U16 and more than 400 children play every weekend for the club. The boys teams have had a really successful year with a record haul of trophies and promotions.

“As a club we are totally committed to developing and inspiring local children to have fun, learn new skills and be part of a team.

“We have just had a huge club event at the New York Stadium which was attended by over 230 people and the funds raised on the night will go towards setting up new teams.

“This is the time of year when we look to recruit new players so please get in touch with the appropriate age manager and come along for a trial.

“We were delighted to welcome Ronnie Moore as our club ambassador and he was obviously inspired as he took Hartlepool United to safety afterwards!”
