In reply to Tyke

Sir, I was most disappointed to see the letter from someone who hides behind the anonymous "Tyke" ( last week's letters).

Anyone not brave enough to put thier name to a letter should be ashamed!

Tyke, if you need to hide behind your attack on Rotherham United chairman Mr Tony Stewart, then maybe in future you should just shut up!

But let's look at the facts, first Tyke states that the attendance gates at Don Valley Stadium are only 3,500 fans.

I remember gates at Millmooor of over 10,000 just a short time ago, and when we move back to the new gound those gates will be back!

Tyke is wrong when (he or she) states that the Council loan will be a disaster. Look at Doncaster where the new Keepmoat Stadium has kick started a run down area into the prestigous lakeside development.

Here we see shops restuarants and business providing much needed jobs. And incidentally Doncaster who also had very low gates, now play to 15,000 capacity!

Chesterfield club went from gates of only 3,954 in 2009 to over 10,000 in the new b2net Stadium.

Both these towns are of similar size as our town and both had councils brave enough to see what an asset a new ground would be and what it will bring to the town.

Well done Rotherham Council!

Now finally Tyke, the encyclopedia definition of Tyke is a small Child, a mongrel or cur. Or a man considered uncouth or mean, just a boor, an offensive person from Yorkshire.

After the unnecessary attack on Mr Stewart, implying that he will be the only one to benefit from the loan well, Rotherham people will decide which above definition suits Tyke best.
