Strong winds set to batter Rotherham as Storm Boelo warning remains in place
Sunday’s weather looks wet across the region
Rotherham and South Yorkshire woke up from a stormy night to an equally blustery morning as Storm Boelo continues to batter the UK.
A yellow weather warning for high winds remains in place for much of today (Sunday, October 25).
The warning, which came into place on Saturday remains in place until 9pm on Sunday.
Forecasters have warned that flying debris and 80mph gusts could present a danger to life this weekend, while a more severe amber warning covered most of Scotland on Saturday before being reduced to a yellow warning along with the whole of the north of England.

Officials warned there is a “good chance” of power cuts, damage to buildings, uprooted trees, and cancellations across rail and flight networks.
South Yorkshire is right on the southern cut off point of the yellow weather warning.
Experts at the Met Office say: “Strong winds will spread across northern parts of the UK during Saturday afternoon, combining with spells of heavy rain. Initially strong southerly winds will affect parts of Scotland before more widespread and even stronger westerly winds develop later on Saturday.
“Very windy conditions will then persist overnight and through much of Sunday before gradually easing from the southwest later. Gusts of 55-65 mph are likely widely with some coastal and exposed areas potentially seeing gusts of 70-80 mph or more, these strongest gusts most likely across Scotland and the far north of England.”
Sunday’s weather looks wet across the region, with spells of rain in the morning before a drier spell int he late morning gives way to more rain in the afternoon and through the evening.
