SNOW: Delays to planes, trains and buses

THERE are delays and cancellations to public transport this morning (Wednesday) due to the snowy weather conditions sweeping the country due to the so-called Beast From The East.

Details of local disruption are as follows:

First buses

115 - Unable to serve East Herringthorpe. Terminating at Mowbray Gardens.

X1 - Diverted between Hellaby and Don John PH via Rotherham Road.

X78 - Due to road conditions, buses are not serving South Street and Pitt Street at Holmes. Buses will operate via Meadowbank Road. Also, in the Doncaster area, buses are operating via A630 direct and not operating around Conisbrough.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport said flights were delayed and advised customers to contact their airline for updates and visit for up-to-date flight information.


There are delays and cancellations across the rail network with several routes currently blocked because of the wintry conditions.

Lines are currently disrupted in the following locations on the Northern line:

East of Middlesbrough







Leeds - Skipton, Ilkley, Bradford Forster Square


Northern said where possible road transport replacement would be put in place, but conditions were also making this difficult in some locations.

Customers are advised to check before they travel at

TransPennine Express services are also affected between:

Carlisle and Glasgow Central

Carlisle and Edinburgh

Road transport is also unavailable due to the severe weather conditions and customers are advised not to travel on this route.

Trains are also disrupted on the following routes:

Between Leeds and York.

Between Brough and Howden

Between Northallerton and Middlesbrough – customers travelling to and from Yarm at present are advised not to travel.

Through Durham – trains heading towards Newcastle cannot call at Durham, customers are advised to stay on the train to Newcastle and take the first available service back to Durham.
