Specs collection to aid overseas eyecare project

MORE than 500 people living in developing countries will be able to see more clearly thanks to generous donations of unwanted glasses by Rotherham residents.

The Specsavers store on College Street says its glasses recycling scheme in support of Vision Aid Overseas collected 515 pairs of specs during 2010.

Some  670 million people—10 per cent of the world's population—are hindered by poor vision and a lack of eyecare.
