'Truly special' Midnight Walk returns in milestone year

ROTHERHAM Hospice has announced its much-loved Midnight Walk will return in 2026 for its “biggest and brightest” event yet in a milestone year.

The hospice, based on Broom Road, is urging hundreds of participants to ‘light up the night’ – and take to the streets of the town in glowing bunny ears and walk together in memory of loved ones when the event returns on Saturday, June 20.

Starting at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in Rotherham, the community event – which will be celebrating its 30th anniversary – brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to share stories, raise funds, and honour those who matter most.

Ruth Wallbank, head of fundraising, said: “This year's Midnight Walk is truly special.

“Reaching our 30th anniversary is a testament to the incredible generosity of this community — the thousands of people who have laced up their trainers, pinned on their bunny ears, and walked through the night for the people they love.

“Every pound raised goes directly towards providing compassionate, expert care for local families facing the hardest of times.

“We want this year to be our biggest and brightest yet, and we'd love everyone in Rotherham to be part of it."

Rotherham United legend John Breckin, a long-time ambassador of the Midnight Walk, said: "The Midnight Walk will always hold a very special place in my heart.

“Rotherham Hospice was there for my wife and for our family when we needed it most — and the care and kindness shown to us was something we will never forget.

“I've been part of this walk for nearly 20 years now, and every single time, I am moved by how many people come together to support it.

“Thirty years is an incredible milestone, and I'd urge everyone in Rotherham — whether you've been touched by the hospice or simply want to show your support — to sign up and walk with us this June."

Entry includes an official Midnight Walk t-shirt, light-up bunny ears, a fundraising inspiration pack, live music at the start, and a Midnight Walk medal.

Early bird entry is from £15.
