'Inspirational' slimmer celebrates 12½-stone weight loss

A MUM who lost half her body weight through Slimming World – transforming her health, confidence and quality of life along the way – has been hailed an inspiration.

Michell Saunders has achieved Slimming World's prestigious Club 50 Award, recognising members who have lost 50 per cent of their starting body weight.

Starting her journey at 25 stone, Michell has now reached 12½ stone – and she's still working towards her own personal achievement target.

Today, she has regained her independence, confidence and the improvements to her health have been “life-changing”.

Kerry Millson, who runs the Slimming World groups in Parkgate, said: "Michell is an inspiration.

“It's not an everyday achievement to lose half of your body weight – it takes time, commitment and motivation.

“As the letter Michell received from our managing director, Lisa Salmon, said, it doesn't just change your life, it can save your life - and that's exactly what it's done for Michell.

“Following Slimming World's Food Optimising plan, Michell has enjoyed satisfying, healthy meals without ever feeling deprived.

“Alongside her healthy eating, she's introduced swimming and gentle walking into her routine – activities that are kinder to her knees while she waits for a knee replacement operation.

“Thanks to her weight loss, she can now safely undergo the surgery.”

Speaking about her achievement, Michell said: “I would not have achieved this without Kerry and my Slimming World family.

“I know she says I did it all myself but not without her keeping me going and reminding me how good Food Optimising is.

“Now I've proved it to myself and hopefully other members that are struggling.

“Let's face it, the plan is easy – it's life that makes it challenging at times.

“So to you guys who are struggling – look, it works.

“Keep going and we will reach our personal goals supporting each other."

Kerry Milson added: “Whether members want to lose 7lb, 7 stone, 17 stone or anywhere in between, we're here in Parkgate to support them every step of the way.

“"Michell's journey shows that with the right support, no goal is too big.”
